Pacific Fono 2024

MĀPIHI held the inaugural Pacific Housing Fono held at Waipapa Taumata Rau the University of Auckland, Fale Pasifika on 25 November 2024

We are delighted to present the Pacific Housing Fono 2024 Report which summarises the outcomes, insights, and impact pathways co-created by our community of housing, research, and Pacific leaders.

Key outcomes from the fono included:

* Intergenerational housing solutions that reflect Pacific values of family and community

* Diverse tenure and financial models to strengthen housing security for Pacific families

* Cultural integration in housing design and policy to ensure wellbeing and resilience

* A commitment to ongoing collaboration across research, policy, design, finance, and community sectors

* Clear direction for research areas to be developed in 2025–2026, including tenure diversification, financial wellbeing, cultural alignment in housing models, and intergenerational living

As outlined, MĀPIHI will be taking forward a 2025–2026 programme of research and partnerships that build on these priorities. We welcome continued engagement and collaboration as this kaupapa progresses.
